The Icebreaking Multipurpose Emergency and Rescue Vessel “BALTIKA” was launched at Arctech Helsinki Shipyard

Arctech launched the icebreaking multipurpose emergency and rescue vessel for the Russian Federal Agency of Sea and River Transport and to be operated by the FGI Gosmorspassluzhba (Russian Marine Emergency Rescue Service) on 12 December 2013 at Helsinki Shipyard. Baltika will be used in icebreaking, rescue and oil combatting operations in the Gulf of Finland.

The Finnish Transport Agency annulled the procurement decision of the new icebreaker for the Finnish Government. In the decision published 27.11. Arctech Helsinki Shipyard was chosen to carry out the procurement. The Finnish Transport Agency will continue with the tendering process soon.

Arctech Helsinki Shipyard won the tender of the new icebreaker for the Finnish Government

The Finnish Transport Agency is procuring a new icebreaker to replace the old icebreaking fleet. The chosen shipyard to build the icebreaker was Arctech Helsinki Shipyard Oy. Tendering process was carried out according to the public procurement regulation. The shipbuilding contract is planned to be sign by the end of this year and building of the icebreaker will start at the beginning of the next year.

The hull assembly of an icebreaking multipurpose emergency and rescue vessel for Russian Ministry of Transport started 28 June 2013 at Arctech Helsinki Shipyard. The vessel will be used in icebreaking, rescue and oil combatting operations in the Gulf of Finland.
