The designer participates in the project from beginning to delivery of the ship
Atmosphere in the shipyard is international and multiculturalism is seen as a richness. In spite of different backgrounds we work together towards a common goal.
I graduated from Turku Technical School in 1984. I started my career in Rauma at Hollming Shipyard, where I worked for ten years. In 1994 I moved to Helsinki Shipyard. Time here in Helsinki has passed extremely fast, because my job description is so versatile. I’m in charge of design subcontracting and interior design management with my group. In addition to design and purchase I participate in sales projects. Besides versatile duties working with different people is the spice of my work.
My position is a vantage point where you can see the whole chain of the project from sales to design, purchase and production. Design in the shipyard is truly rewarding, because the designer participates in the project from beginning all the way to the delivery. Here you can really see what happens to your design and you also get constant feedback.
A ship is a show of force of co-operation, where work efforts of hundreds of people are refined into a vessel. Atmosphere in the shipyard is international and multiculturalism is seen as a richness. In spite of different backgrounds we work together towards a common goal.
